Tim Bell was born in Manhattan, raised nearby and after a few adventures in Washington, DC and many other parts of the world, came back to complete both a BA and Masters degree in Architecture at Columbia University. He continues to live in Manhattan.
Tim formally trained as a photographer but by and large is self-taught owing in part to a life-long study of composition, lighting and abstraction and further enhanced by his training as an architect.
As a professional for over 20 years now he has shot for numerous magazines, such as Architectural Digest, the New York Times, Interior Design, Elle Décor, House Beautiful, This Old House, Met Home, NY Spaces, Business Week, Fortune, Fast Company, Forbes, Time, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post. Advertising clients include Knoll, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, Starwood Hotels among others.
Recent work includes pro-bono projects for Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club and DIFFA which can be seen in the projects section of this site.
